Hi Parents!
Wow! Good luck keeping all the names in our lesson this week straight. After Solomon's reign ended, God divided Israel into Israel and Judah. Most of what had been Israel was still Israel, but Judah (were Jerusalem is) was only the tribes of Judah and Benjamin. The kings of the 2 nations (at the beginning) are Rehoboam and Jeroboam (similar names I think). They were both evil and they both had sons named Abijah (more confusion especially since there is a prophet named Ahijah). Jeroboam's son died in his youth, Rehoboam's son would become king for a little while. There would be several kings over the years, most of them evil. Israel was always at war with Judah. Obviously this was not the way God wanted things, but it was all based on the failure of God's people to follow and worship Him only. God wants people to follow and worship Him only. When will they (we) ever learn? Where is your heart? Are you following God like King David did? Or are you going the other way? I wish all of our leaders and people of America were like King David. Then we would be a mighty nation making a huge impact for God. But don't let that stop you from making an impact in your neighborhood. Don't lose heart! God has already won this battle. One day we will be resurrected to live in a resurrected world free of sin and free of all the nasty evil things the fall brought upon us and the earth. The parent letter is attached. Please spend some time as a family discussing this chapter and the outcome of not following God. God bless you! Mr. Chuck Comments are closed.
