Hello DBC Family,
Due to some issues, we won't be able to livestream the service today. We are very sorry about that. We will, however, be recording the audio from the service and I will post it shortly after the service is done today. The Chapel is still meeting in-person like normal, and the service will be broadcast on FM 105.3 if you would like to come to the parking lot to worship. Ivan Today is a momentous day. It is January 20, 2021 and if we look at it as we do in America it is a palindrome date that can be read the same forward and backward - 1-20-21! The Farmers' Almanac notes that this is the very first Inauguration Day in American history that falls on a palindrome date. The next time that an Inauguration will happen on a palindrome date, we will be long gone because it won't be until January 20, 3021 (or 1-20-3021). That's 1000 years from now!!
I know for a fact that the President who was inaugurated today won't be around in 1000 years. And the President that left today won't be around in 1000 years. We humans are funny. We put our faith and hope so many times in people and things. We look to a leader to bring us safety and security and peace. But all of our leaders can't guarantee life. They can't guarantee peace. No, only the Leader of Creation, who WILL be around in 1000 years can guarantee life and peace. Though we "crowned" a new President today, God is still on the throne and He will never be shaken. May the next Inauguration Day palindrome date be one we will all remember while celebrating in God's Kingdom! To God be the Glory alone! Ivan Dear DBC Family,
Thank you all so very much for being willing to be flexible this past Sunday. It is good to be able to worship in-person again at the Chapel this week. Andrew will be giving a Communion thought and I will be speaking about the Letter to the Church in Philadelphia (which is in modern-day Turkey, not the US city). The kids will be downstairs with Mr. Chuck once again for Youth for the Lord. If you are unable to worship in person, we will have the service live-streaming on around 10:45am and also transmitting the service on FM 105.3 (if you would like to come to the parking lot and worship). Ivan Dear DBC Family,
Thank you all so very much for being willing to be flexible this Sunday as we worship Online instead of in the Chapel. As leaders, it is challenging to make wise and God-honoring decisions when there are so many distinct viewpoints and feelings. If you go to our website’s streaming page (here), you will find our service. After a Welcome, Chuck gives a Communion thought and I share a message on the Letter to the Church in Sardis from Revelation 3:1-6. May God bless you this Sunday and above all be blessed by our worship to Him. Ivan Dear DBC family,
This past year, yesterday included, has once again shown us how life can change at a moment's notice. Regardless on where you stand on the MANY things that we all had to deal with the past 13 months, I know that you can agree that life is fragile. This is why in Scripture God reminds us over and over again that this world is not our home and that we are citizens of His kingdom. My prayer for this year is that we can each commit 100% to live as citizens of heaven, not tossed about by everything that happens around us. I want people to be able to look at us and say, "They KNOW Jesus." IMPORTANT: The elders have recently learned of several folks with Covid Positive and symptoms within the congregation. After prayer and much consideration by the elders and due to the possibility of some Covid symptoms circulating within the Chapel, we are moving our service for this Sunday January 10th to Online Only. We are very saddened that we have to take this step, but believe it is the best step at this time. I will post the links for the service on Saturday. In addition, Mr. Chuck will be recording a Youth for the Lord lesson and will upload it. Ivan |
