Sunday worship January 10, 2021

1/10/2021

Dear DBC Family,
Thank you all so very much for being willing to be flexible this Sunday as we worship Online instead of in the Chapel. As leaders, it is challenging to make wise and God-honoring decisions when there are so many distinct viewpoints and feelings.

If you go to our website’s streaming page (here), you will find our service. After a Welcome, Chuck gives a Communion thought and I share a message on the Letter to the Church in Sardis from Revelation 3:1-6.

May God bless you this Sunday and above all be blessed by our worship to Him.
Ivan

Upcoming Sunday January 10, 2021 closure

1/7/2021

Dear DBC family,
This past year, yesterday included, has once again shown us how life can change at a moment's notice. Regardless on where you stand on the MANY things that we all had to deal with the past 13 months, I know that you can agree that life is fragile. This is why in Scripture God reminds us over and over again that this world is not our home and that we are citizens of His kingdom. My prayer for this year is that we can each commit 100% to live as citizens of heaven, not tossed about by everything that happens around us. I want people to be able to look at us and say, "They KNOW Jesus."

IMPORTANT: The elders have recently learned of several folks with Covid Positive and symptoms within the congregation. After prayer and much consideration by the elders and due to the possibility of some Covid symptoms circulating within the Chapel, we are moving our service for this Sunday January 10th to Online Only. We are very saddened that we have to take this step, but believe it is the best step at this time. I will post the links for the service on Saturday. In addition, Mr. Chuck will be recording a Youth for the Lord lesson and will upload it.

Sunday worship November 15, 2020

11/14/2020

Hello DBC Family,
Most of you probably received the Emergency Alert message on Thursday at 10am from the governor, requesting Alaskans to be help each other stay healthy. While he asked everyone to be willing to shift their plans and mentalities and be willing to think of others, as believers, we should always be thinking of and treating others as we do ourselves. Denali has been attempting to run with the best health practices, while also remaining open to as many folks as possible. The elders have discussed and prayed about how to proceed and we believe that what is needed is better resolve in following our guidelines at the Chapel. As the weeks and months have worn on, many of us have become more lax in our gathering together.

  • Please continue to wear masks in the foyer and the common areas. Feel free to remove them when you reach your seat on the Left side of the Sanctuary, only putting them back on when you leave.
  • Please do your best to remain 6 feet apart from each family group.

The requests that the governor is making is actually what we are already doing as a Chapel and we believe that we are respecting the governor in keeping our standards the same. All five of us elders are incredibly thankful that God is continuing to allow us to meet together in person to worship. Many, many churches in the States are either being shutdown from meeting or meeting while living with fines and legal battles.

For our service tomorrow, I will be speaking on the church of Thyatira from Revelation 2:18-29 and Jared will be giving the communion message. If you are unable to worship in person, we will be live-streaming the worship service on our website (livestream begins right after the welcome and prayer time since we don’t want private conversations to become public worldwide) and also transmitting it on FM 105.3 (if you would like to come to the parking lot and worship).

Sunday Worship November 8, 2020

11/7/2020

Hello DBC Family,
Winter Storm Warning! Doesn’t that just sound like a major headline? As I am writing this email, I am assuming that the roads will be passable for all of us to be able to worship in-person (but check your emails, Facebook or our website just in case tomorrow morning). I will be speaking on Compromise, and not the good kind of compromise. As humans, we have to compromise a lot in our everyday lives, but when is it wrong to compromise? Is it ok to bend our morals in order to fit the situation? Those are the questions we will be wrestling with tomorrow.

If you are unable to worship in person, we will be live-streaming the worship service on our website (livestream begins right after the welcome and prayer time) and Vimeo and also transmitting it on FM 105.3 (if you would like to come to the parking lot and worship).

Sunday worship September 27, 2020

9/27/2020

Hello DBC Family,
Tomorrow, I will be starting a new series titled, “Seven Messages for Seven Churches” which comes from the first 3 chapters of the book of Revelation. This week’s message will be from Revelation 1. Chuck will be giving a Communion thought. I believe that if you are able to worship with us in person that you will be encouraged. But if you are unable to, we will be live-streaming the worship service on our website and also transmitting it on FM 105.3 if you would like to come to the parking lot and worship.

Resilient

9/24/2020

Hello DBC Family,
This past week we had our AWANA registration and even though our AWANA year will be quite different, many families returned. This warmed our hearts. This coming Tuesday is the beginning of AWANA and our theme for this entire year is one word: Resilient. The way that we have structured the club and have placed our leaders should allow for us to be able to continue club all year long, no matter what any virus does in our community. We have built in redundancy and space and support and we pray that that will be enough to help us be resilient. Satan does NOT want believers to be resilient and he does NOT want these little ones who will be coming to AWANA to learn how to weather this life's ups and downs through Christ's strength.

Just this week I learned of 2 Fairbanks churches that have closed because of Covid-19. They are going to have their services online, but I can't help but think that Satan is dancing a happy dance of joy because the doors are closed once again. I know that you may resent the way that the elders are trying to keep DBC safe during this time, but our desire is for us as a congregation to be resilient and keep our doors open as long as God allows.

Ivan
