Hi Parents!
Wow! Good luck keeping all the names in our lesson this week straight. After Solomon's reign ended, God divided Israel into Israel and Judah. Most of what had been Israel was still Israel, but Judah (were Jerusalem is) was only the tribes of Judah and Benjamin. The kings of the 2 nations (at the beginning) are Rehoboam and Jeroboam (similar names I think). They were both evil and they both had sons named Abijah (more confusion especially since there is a prophet named Ahijah). Jeroboam's son died in his youth, Rehoboam's son would become king for a little while. There would be several kings over the years, most of them evil. Israel was always at war with Judah. Obviously this was not the way God wanted things, but it was all based on the failure of God's people to follow and worship Him only. God wants people to follow and worship Him only. When will they (we) ever learn? Where is your heart? Are you following God like King David did? Or are you going the other way? I wish all of our leaders and people of America were like King David. Then we would be a mighty nation making a huge impact for God. But don't let that stop you from making an impact in your neighborhood. Don't lose heart! God has already won this battle. One day we will be resurrected to live in a resurrected world free of sin and free of all the nasty evil things the fall brought upon us and the earth. The parent letter is attached. Please spend some time as a family discussing this chapter and the outcome of not following God. God bless you! Mr. Chuck I was hoping to send an email that was full of wisdom and insight, just like Solomon would have sent, but I could not. Instead, I write to invite you to come this Sunday as we continue our look at The Story of God. We will be covering chapter 13 in our books which is, incidentally, about King Solomon.
If you have missed any of the previous messages, please do not feel that you will be left out. While God's story builds in each lesson, Chuck, Kent and I try to make each and every message/lesson stand on its own. Each individual story contributes to God's over-arching purpose which has been the same since the beginning of time: to draw men and women into perfect fellowship with Him. I am certainly glad you are a part of our local church family. Ivan Hi Parents!
Happy New Year! Our Christmas Holiday Advent season has finished. We will continue our lessons in the The Story for the children and teens beginning Sunday. We are on chapter 13, The King Who Had It All. I will start my study Monday so I have no insights just yet. I wanted to get this to you as soon as I could so you could get back into the 'groove of things.' Remember; IT IS WHAT YOU DO AT HOME THAT WILL IMPACT YOUR CHILDREN MOST. Please read, study, and discuss these chapters as a family. God bless you all! Mr. Chuck |
